Household Support Fund

Councils across the country have been provided with funding through the Household Support Scheme. This is to support households on a low income with food and utilities whilst the cost of living is increasing.

The Government has extended funding for a further six months from April to September 2024. This will be used to support our most vulnerable residents.

Who can apply

You can make a direct application if you:

  • are aged 16 or over and live in Walsall
  • are suffering financial hardship. You will need to upload bank statements for all accounts you hold or your application will not be considered
  • are responsible for payment of rent, mortgage, gas, electric or water bills for the property where you live
  • hold combined household capital totalling under £6,000
  • are a single applicant in gainful employment: you must have a total household income of under £25,000 gross. You will need to upload payslips to support your application
  • are joint applicants in gainful employment: you must have a total household income of under £30,000 gross. You will need to upload payslips to support your application

Please allow three weeks for a decision to be made on your application. We will contact you if we need more information.

All requests for food or gas and electric crisis situations will be dealt with as a priority. Dependant on fund availability, we may provide additional payments. You don’t need to make further applications. These will be considered automatically during the year.
