Copies of historic certificates, documents and plans

A building completion certificate is proof that any work done has been inspected by a competent building control surveyor and complies with building regulations.

Walsall Council will issue a certificate at the end of of a building project if they are the building control body inspecting your work.

You may also receive your certificate from an approved member of a Competent Person Scheme or from a private approved inspector.

Request a copy completion certificate

If you require a copy of your completion certificate you must ask the building control body or approved person who inspected your work. If this was Walsall Council, you can submit a request online below.

If you are not the owner of property you will require permission from the original owner before we can release any documents.

To provide the certificate we must complete a full back history search for decisions, plans, scans and electronic communications.

We will have to open up historic files and site inspections. The charge for finding the record is £66.00 inclusive of VAT.

If you do not want a copy certificate but want to know if one was issued, the same charges apply. The amount of work involved in the search is the same.

Request copies of historic decisions, certificates and plans

We can provide you with copies of historic decisions, certificates and plans if you are the owner of a property. If you are not the owner you need permission from the owner before we can release any documents.

The charge for each search is £21.60 inclusive of VAT. If an inspection is required in order for us to issue the certificate a further charge of £66.00 (including VAT) will be incurred.
